Kanye West

Kanye Omari West was born on June 8, 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia. He moved to Illinois at the age of three, to Chicago, following the divorce of his parents, where he lived with his mother, an English teacher who chairs the language department of Chicago State University (his father is a photo journalist, formerly Black Panther), and attended the Polaris High School on the outskirts of Oak Lawn, showing excellent academic performance in spite of his commitment. He then enrolled at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where he attended art classes. For a while Kanye West also attended Chicago State University, but soon decided to leave it to focus solely on his musical career. 1996, at just nineteen, he produced for the first time a record: it is “Down to Earth”, made by rapper Gray. Kanye West not only produced eight of the songs on the album, but also sang one song, entitled “Line for Line”, and in the following years produced by artists such as Harlem World, Goodie Mob, Foxy Brown and Jermaine Dupri, leaving Chicago in 2001 to move to the East Coast. Here he met Jay-Z, who wanted him to sign a contract for Roc-A-Fella Records. Kanye, after passing Damon Dash’s audition, signs the agreement.Shortly before the release of his solo album, however, he remains involved in a rather serious car accident. Because of it he remedies a three-point fracture of the jaw. Due to this unforeseen event, the release of the album is postponed. Once the convalescence begins, Kanye West begins to frequent the recording studio again. The album, entitled “The College Dropout”, was only released in 2004. The single “Through the Wire” proves to be a great commercial success, in the United States but also internationally. The other singles are “Slow Jamz” – in which West is accompanied by ChicagoTwista – and “Jesus Walks”, which offers a religious theme. shortly after the Atlanta artist founded a label, Very Good Music, which hires among the new recruits GLC, John Legend and Consequence. 2005, just one year after the release of his first album, Kanye West returns to the market with “Late Registration”, whose first single is “Gold Digger”. The success was such that in 2006 he won a Grammy Award for the best rap album. In September 2007 he released “Graduation”, his third LP. But a few weeks later she had to face mourning for her mother’s death due to complications after cosmetic surgery. In September 2008, on the stage of the Mtv Video Music Awards, West released the single “Love Lockdown”, from the album “808’s & Heartbreak”, released a few months later by Good Music. However, at the same time, the American singer is arrested while he is at Los Angeles airport, after having attacked a photographer who is immortalizing him. The scene of the attack is filmed by another paparazzo and spread on the web.In April 2009 he was the protagonist of an episode of “South Park”, in which his egocentricity and his violent character are put on the saloon. After recording with Thirty Seconds to Mars (band of Jared Leto) the song “Hurricane 2.0”, which enters the album “This is War” of the group, West realizes with Young Jeezy the single “Amazing”. The latter was chosen as the official song for the 2009 NBA playoffs.Later, together with Eminem, Lil Wayne and Drake, he recorded the single “Forever”, which was chosen to be part of the soundtrack of the movie “More Than a Game”. On the occasion of the Mtv Video Music Awards of the same year, Kanye goes on stage while Taylor Swift is giving a speech, interrupting it to talk about Beyoncé. For this gesture, he is called “a donkey” even by American President Barack Obama. After having undergone an operation to replace the teeth of the lower arch with some fixed diamonds of the same shape, in October 2010 he published the mini-film of the song “Runaway”, in which he appears alongside the model Selita Ebanks. In this way, he promotes the release of “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”, his new album, which sells more than a million and a half copies. 2011 is the protagonist of several duets: with Katy Perry sings in “E.T.”In 2012, Kanye West even won seven Grammy Awards nominations. On June 15, 2013, he became the father for the first time of a child, North, had by his partner Kim Kardashian. The two of them get married in Florence on May 24 of the following year. At the end of 2015 Kim and Kanye become parents again, when Saint, their second child, is born, and in 2015 Kanye collaborates with Rihanna and Paul McCartney on the recording of the single “Four Five Seconds”. The song is also proposed at the ceremony of the Grammy Awards that year. At the Mtv Video Music Awards, however, he officially apologizes to Taylor Swift for what happened a few years earlier. In the same context he announces that he intends to run for the American presidential elections in 2020. 2016 West publishes the album “The Life of Pablo” on Tidal: the disc in a single day is pirated more than 500 thousand times, for an estimated damage of not less than ten million dollars (the Pablo in question is a reference to Sao Paulo). In November of the same year, after appearing for a cameo in Ben Stiller’s film “Zoolander 2”, the American singer undergoes hospitalization motivated by psychiatric problems, probably caused by insomnia.
