5 Seconds of Summer

5 Seconds of Summer (also known in abbreviated form as 5SOS) was born in Sydney, Australia, in 2011. Its members, Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood, met at its institute, Norwest Christian College. Later, Ashton Irwin joined as a drummer, completing his training.
At first, before beginning to compose their own songs, they performed versions of songs from their favorite groups, such as My Chermical Romance, Green Day or Blink-182, which were uploaded to Luke’s Youtube channel. In this way, little by little, they acquired a group of followers. After their cover of Chris Brown’s Next to You received more than 600,000 visits, they attracted the interest of several record companies. They managed to release their first EP, Unplugged, in June 2012. Despite the lack of any kind of promotion, they reached number 3 on Australia’s iTunes list, and entered the Top of downloads in several countries such as New Zealand and Sweden. A success that was amplified with the release of their first single Out of My Limit. The videoclip received more than 100,000 visits in twenty-four hours, consolidating its position as one of the most promising bands in the pop scene, which undoubtedly influenced them to be chosen as the opening act for One Direction in three consecutive world tours: Take Me Home Tour in 2013, Where We Are Tour in 2014 and On The Road Again Tour in 2015.It was the ideal time for 5 Seconds of Summer to prepare their first album. Finally, the big day came on June 27, 2014, and the reception couldn’t have been better. Their first single, She Looks So Perfect, was number one on iTunes in the UK: an Australian band hadn’t made it for fourteen years. 5 Seconds of Summer, the album, would reach the surprising figure, for a debut album, of two million copies sold worldwide. Encouraged by this success, they released a live album entitled LiveSOS in December 2014.Immediately, the group set to work on their next album, Sounds Good Feels Good, which went on sale in October 2015, earning them another milestone: their first number one in the United States. This release was accompanied by a documentary about 5SOS, How Did We End Up Here, and already in 2016, by an album that gathers versions, rarities and B-Sides, This Is Everything We Ever Said, with which they commemorated their fifth anniversary as a band.Over the years, 5SOS has won an American Music Award, a People’s Choice Award, an iHeartRadio Music Award, five MTV European Music Awards, two ARIA Awards and an MTV Video Music Award. Their third original album, Youngblood, will be released worldwide on June 22, 2018. Their first single, Want You Back, was released on the group’s official Youtube account on February 22nd, adding up to more than eleven million views in two months.
