Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars, the stage name of Peter Gene Hernandez (Honolulu, 8 October 1985), is an American singer and record producer.After graduating, he left his native country, Hawaii, to move to Los Angeles. His greatest musical inspiration is Michael Jackson and many critics point to Bruno Mars as his worthy heir, finding numerous similarities in vocal timbre and in the versatility of musical genres. In 2009 he signed a contract with Atlantic Records after a period of failure under another label.He has written hits of great success for artists such as Flo Rida or Travie McCoy. He achieved fame in 2010 lending his voice to Nothin’ on You hit by rapper B.o.B., and Billionaire with Travie McCoy. His music is characterized by various influences, reggae, pop, soul or blues. It has Puerto Rican origins from his father Pete Hernandez, and Philippines from his mother Bernadette Hernandez. In 1992 he had acted in the role of a small Elvis in the movie I play his wife in Las Vegas, at only 7 years old. Mainly known for having co-written the lyrics and sung part of B.o.B’s Nothin’ on You and Travis McCoy’s Billionaire, Bruno Mars has also participated in the writing and production of international hits such as Flo Rida’s Right Round and K’naan’s Wavin’ Flag. He has also written songs for Alexandra Burke, Adam Levine, Brandy, Adam Lambert, Sean Kingston and for the Sugababes. After the big commercial success of Nothin’ On You, Bruno Mars released his debut EP entitled It’s Better If You Don’t Understand on May 11, 2010…. His first single Just the Way You Are was released on July 19, 2010, and reached several times the first position of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming a well-known success, in fact, Just the Way You Are also reaches the first position in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom The second single Grenade also reached the first position of the Billboard Hot 100. In the United States the debut album of Mars Doo-Wops & Hooligans debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 during the week of October 13, 2010, selling about 55,000 copies. After releasing her debut album, she got seven Grammy Awards nominations winning the one for “Best Evil Pop Vocal Performance” for Just the Way You Are. In March 2011, he released The Lazy Song, the third single to achieve remarkable success. The singer also states in an interview that “Doo-Wops”, a genre created in the 50’s, was transmitted to him by his father, and “Hooligans” represents his rock side, in fact the title of his album is Doo-Wops & Hooligans. On September 22, 2011 it was announced that the song “It Will Rain” is one of the songs on the soundtrack of the movie The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. According to the annual report published by IFPI Just the Way You Are is the best-selling single of 2011 worldwide, “Unorthodox Jukebox” is the title of the second album by Bruno Mars, released on December 11, 2012. The album is anticipated by the first single extracted “Locked Out of Heaven”, officially released on October 1, 2012. Bruno told Billboard that this second record represents his freedom: “I went into the studio and I wrote and recorded everything I wanted,” said the artist. For this release Mars has worked with well-known producers on the international scene such as Mark Ronson, (Amy Winehouse), Jeff Bhasker (Beyoncé), Emile Haynie (Eminem), Diplo (M.I.A., Usher) and Supa Dups (John Legend). The CD has an excellent workmanship and quality with Soul, Funk inspiration, wisely mixed with a melodic Pop. The Hawaiian singer claims to have been inspired by the greatest artists in history, such as Michael Jackson, The Police, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, for this new album that presents influences of the eighties. On January 15, 2013 was released the second official single entitled When I Was Your Man which gets a success almost equal to the previous single. On May 10, 2013 the third official single “Treasure” was released. Bruno Mars announced on the web that on August 25, 2013 he will perform at the Video Music Awards 2013 with his next single, the fourth from his album Unorthodox Jukebox or Gorilla.on September 3, 2013, the NFL announced that Bruno Mars will hold the ‘half time show, the entertainment show between the second and third quarter of the Super Bowl XLVIII to be held at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey (home of the New York Giants and New York Jets) on February 2, 2014.
