Dolores O’Riordan

This is Biography Dolores Mary Eileen O’Riordan was born in Ballybricken (Ireland) on 6 September 1971. She joins the musical group “The Cranberry Saw Us” in 1990 as a singer; the line-up then changes its name to “The Cranberries”. On 18 July 1994, she married Don Burton, tour manager of the English band Duran Duran.

Dolores took part in the production of four Cranberries albums, “Uncertain EP” (1991), “Everybody else is doing it, so why can’t we?” (1993), “No need to argue” (1994) and “To the faithful departed” (1996). (1993), “No Need to Argue” (1994) and “To the Faithful Departed” (1996); then on 23 November 1997 Taylor Baxter Burton, her first child, is born.

Dolores’ career continues with the new album “Bury the Hatchet” (1999); after the tour following the album she celebrates the birth of her daughter Molly Burton (27 January 2001, a date that coincides with her husband Don’s birthday).

After two more releases, “Wake up and smell the coffee” and the collection of hits “Stars – The Best of 1992 – 2002”, the band broke up in 2003; the news did not cause too much of a stir, also due to the total absence of an official statement.

After thirteen years of dedication to the band, the first time Dolores O’Riordan appears as a solo artist is on the soundtrack of the film “Spider-Man 2”, with her song “Black Widow” (composed on the occasion of her mother-in-law’s death from cancer),in 2004 he appeared as a guest on the album ‘Zu & Co.’ by the Italian Zucchero, with the song ‘Pure Love’.

On 10 April 2005, he gave birth to another child, Dakota Rain Burton (to whom he dedicated the song ‘Ordinary Day’), her appearances include a duet with Luciano Pavarotti and the recording of Schubert’s Ave Maria (sung a cappella) for the soundtrack of Mel Gibson’s film “The Passion of the Christ”, Dolores also appears in Adam Sandler’s film “Change your life with a click” (2006), playing herself and singing her “Linger”.

Her first solo album was released in 2007 and was entitled “Are you listening?”. Dolores O’Riordan’s second solo album, No Baggage, was released at the end of August 2009. It contains ten new tracks plus a new version of ‘Apple of My Eye’, a song from the previous album. The album was preceded in June by the single ‘The Journey’.

As of 18 October 2013, he is one of the judges of the talent show The Voice Ireland. After three children and twenty years of life together, she divorced her husband Don Burton in 2014. On 10 November of the same year, she was arrested at Shannon Airport, Ireland, for assaulting a stewardess and a policeman. Dolores O’Riordan died suddenly in London – where she was on a recording session – on 15 January 2018, aged 46. Only later was the cause of death established: drowning following an alcohol overdose.
