This is Biography Kai pseudonym of Kim Jong-in Gim Jong-in, Kim ChonginMR; Suncheon, 14 January 1994), is a South Korean dancer, singer, model and actor. He is a member of the South Korean k-pop boy group Exo, its sub unit Exo-K and the South Korean supergroup SuperM. In addition to his group activities, Kai has also starred in various TV programmes such as Choco Bank (2016), Andante (2017), and Kim Jong-in was born on 14 January 1994 in Suncheon, South Korea. He started dancing when he was eight years old. He initially did jazz dance, but after seeing The Nutcracker he started training in ballet while in third grade. She stated that her parents initially wanted her to learn taekwondo and to play the piano.
After participating in the SM Youth Best Contest with his father’s encouragement, he won and signed a contract with the record label in 2007 when he was only thirteen years old. He started training in hip hop after joining SM Entertainment.
Kai graduated from the Seoul School of Performing Arts in February 2012.
Kai was the first member of Exo to be officially introduced to the public on 23 December 2011.He made his first televised performance along with the other group members Luhan, Chen and Tao and other SM Entertainment artists on the end-of-year music programme Gayo Daejeon on 29 December 2011.The group officially debuted in April 2012 and has since achieved considerable popularity and commercial success.
In October 2012, Kai joined the promotional group Younique Unit together with Eunhyuk, Henry, Kim Hyo-yeon, Lee Tae-min and Luhan. The group released a single entitled Maxstep. Later, in December 2012, he joined the dance group SM The Performance, along with fellow member Lay, Yunho from TVXQ, Eunhyuk and Lee Dong-hae from Super Junior, Choi Min-ho and Taemin from Shinee.The group made their first appearance at the SBS Gayo Daejeon event on 29 December, and performed their single Spectrum. The single was officially released the following day.
In August 2014, Kai participated in Taemin’s song Pretty Boy.
2016-present: acting career and SuperMs
In January 2016, he made his official acting debut as the male lead in the drama Choco Bank,which reached record viewership,while in December the same year, he starred in two episodes in 7 First Kisses.
In January 2017, it was announced that Kai would star as the male lead in the film Andante, as a high school student, while in February 2017, he was cast in the drama Spring Has Come.The drama marked the first time a non-Japanese actor took on a lead role in a drama produced by broadcast station WOWOW.
In December 2017, Kai was chosen as the cover model for the December issue of The Big Issue, a magazine known for helping the homeless. The magazine sold 20,000 copies within the first two days and so far 80,000 copies have been sold, which records the highest number of copies sold since the magazine’s inception in July 2010.
In 2018, Kai was chosen for the melodrama Uriga mannan gijeok.
On 7 August 2019, Kai was confirmed as a member of SuperM, a K-pop “supergroup” created by SM Entertainment in collaboration with Capitol Records, debuting on 4 October 2019 with their self-titled EP.The group’s promotions began in October in the US market.Kai was selected as Gucci’s first global ambassador in Korea.
On 3 July 2020, SM Entertainment announced that Kai’s first solo album was currently in production with the aim of being released in the second half of 2020.On 12 October, he was announced as the first ever male face of the cosmetics brand Bobbi Brown.On 1 November Kai appeared in the online showcase “TUCSON Beyond Drive”, a collaboration between Hyundai Motors and SM Entertainment, where he performed in a performance entitled Follow Your Hidden Light combining K-pop and augmented reality.
On 30 November 2020, he released his debut EP Kai (开), which included the promotional single Mmmh, becoming the fifth member of Exo to debut as a solo singer.Exactly one year later he returned with his second EP Peaches with the eponymous title.
