Luis Alfonso Rodríguez; San Juan de Puerto Rico, 1978. Puerto Rican singer and composer. The most romantic ballads and the rhythms of rythm & blues have turned the singer Luis Fonsi into a true idol for millions of Latinos who are thrilled to hear his interpretation of each of the songs on his albums. the Puerto Rican city of San Juan was born on April 15, 1978 to Luis Alfonso Rodriguez, a child who would soon surprise his family with his great facility to imitate the most famous singers of the moment. At the same time, his keen musical sense led him to join the San Juan Children’s Choir. With this formation he began to familiarize himself with the world of music and performances, until at the age of 10 he had to leave it because his family moved to live in the North American town of Orlando, in Florida.already in North America, Luis Alfonso gets a scholarship from Florida State University to study music. He also joins the choir of this university, which gives him the opportunity to participate in various tours of stages in the United States and London. Luis Alfonso Rodríguez gives way to Luis Fonsi when he decides to start his professional career as a singer and composer. In 1998, he recorded his first album entitled Comenzaré and was placed at the top of the sales lists in many South American countries. The excellent results obtained give him a Gold Record and encourage him to work on his new album. Eterno appeared in the Latin markets in 2001 and again had a great acceptance among the general public. Luis Fonsi achieved the same success in 2002 with the release of his third album, Amor secreto. As in all other albums, he works hard to achieve very high sales figures and amazes the audience at his multitudinous concerts in Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States with his talents as a singer, composer and also a dancer. A third consecutive Gold Record is added to his curriculum of recognitions, so far the last title of Luis Fonsi’s discography is Abrazar la vida (Embrace Life). Appeared in 2003, it is another resounding success that immediately appears in the Latin charts of best sellers. His single ¿Quién te dijo eso? is one of the most listened to songs of the year and shares popularity with songs like Por ti podría morir, Viviendo en el ayer, Extrño sentimiento or Yo te propongo. Although Fonsi’s specialty is rhythm & blues, this album stands out for the heterogeneity of the rhythms of all the songs that compose it. In it, the singer collaborates with producers such as Rudy Pérez, Kike Santander and Ángel “Cucco” Peña.in Abrazar la vida appears a song that is very well known in Spain, La fuerza de mi corazón. Sung as a duet in English and Spanish by Luis Fonsi and Christina Valemi, it becomes the soundtrack for a major national cartoon production titled El Cid, la leyenda (The Cid, the Legend). It is this theme that makes the Puerto Rican singer popular in the country.Although Luis Fonsi is famous above all for his facet as a singer, it is worth highlighting his work as a composer. He has created songs for artists such as Olga Tañón and Ednita Nazario and has collaborated with Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, among other singers. It is also important to remember his participation in events such as the Jubilee 2000, the concert in tribute to the victims of 9/11 or the Miss World 2003 contest, one of the most watched programs in the history of television.
